sitzmarkers volunteer opportunities
 

For many years, Sitzmarkers has been the beneficiary of financial support from community organizations such as the German American Women’s Club (GAWC) and the Stuttgart Community Spouses Club (SCSC). Their support has enabled Sitzmarkers to offer subsidized beginning ski and snowboard lessons as well as keep chaperone costs low. This, in turn, contributes to member safety and keeps trips affordable. Sitzmarkers has traditionally given back to these organizations by encouraging support for, and supporting, these organizations’ charitable functions. What is the benefit to you? First, you have the satisfaction of helping the larger community as well as Sitzmarkers. Second, a major criterion that the Sitzmarkers Adult Advisory Council (AAC) uses to choose trip captains and chaperones is how individuals contribute to Sitzmarkers either through volunteer activity or in running the club itself (AAC operations), which takes considerable (but enjoyable) effort.

This year, there will be a number of opportunities to help Sitzmarkers and the community. We currently need volunteers for the following activities:

  • Stand Leader/Co-Stand Leader, Ladies’ Blouses and Lingerie Stand, 43rd Pfennig Bazaar (14-15 Oct) (Adult)
  • Sitzmarker Clothing Sales Manager (Adult or Sitzmarker)
  • Lead - Sitzmarkers Basket - SCSC Basket Auction (Adult or Sitzmarker)
  • Lead - Spring Bazaar Fundraiser (Adult w/Sitzmarkers)
  • Trip Captains (Sitzmarkers)
  • Chaperones (Adults) -- Priority goes to those who help in other volunteer activities or in club operations, as this is the one volunteer activity for which we have more volunteers than spaces. Must be able to ski or snowboard – adult snowboarders are especially at a premium.

German American Women’s Club Pfennig Bazaar Volunteer Opportunity


This year, Sitzmarkers has volunteered to lead the Ladies’ Blouses and Lingerie Stand at the 43rd Pfennig Bazaar, which will be held 14-15 October at the Liederhalle in Stuttgart. We are asking Sitzmarkers to help in several ways.
  • We need an adult stand leader or co-stand leader. If any parent is willing to volunteer, please let us know at contactus@sitzmarkers.org.
  • We also need volunteers to help 12-13 October to set up as well as 14-15 October during the Bazaar itself. Volunteers can go directly online this year to sign up for a shifts at the Pfennig Bazaar. Go to gawcvolunteer@yahoo.com to request to volunteer and you will receive a link to “Volunteer Spot” allowing you to volunteer. Please sign up for the Ladies’ Blouses and Lingerie Stand!
If you are unable to help at the Pfennig Bazaar, and want to help in another way, you can volunteer at the Patch Sorting Room located next to the Thrift Store during Volunteer Sorting Hours on Tuesdays & Thursdays 9am-12pm. Additionally, Pfennig Bazaar donations may be dropped off 24/7 in bins at the Patch Sorting Room and on Kelley at the end of Ashe Strasse, one block past the Commissary, to the right of the dumpster area.
