For those of you who are newcomers to the Stuttgart community, let me introduce our Club. "Sitzmarkers Ski and Board Club" is not a military benefit common to overseas activities in Europe. We are unique. The Greater Stuttgart Military Community (GSMC) is the only known area where parents and students have organized for the purpose of providing our youth inexpensive, supervised first-class Alpine skiing and snowboarding opportunities throughout the winter season. This private, non-profit organization prides itself on hard work, dedication on the part of advisors, parents, and student members. With your support and assistance, we will continue.

Over the past 38 years, the Sitzmarkers' standards, objectives, and purpose have been constant:
  • The internal organization is composed of children in grades 7 - 12 and an Adult Advisory Council.
  • Safety is our primary objective while developing sound skiing, snowboarding skills and offering the best in trip opportunities at the lowest possible cost to members.
  • Club programs will focus both on the new arrival in the GSMC who is long on enthusiasm but short on experience, as well as on the seasoned veteran of several years on the Alpine slopes.
  • Last, but not least, in achieving our basic aim of developing fine skiing skills in an organized environment, good conduct and discipline are demanded of each participant. The rules must be and will be enforced.
This year's trip schedule will include three trips well known to long-time Sitzmarkers – Stubai Glacier, Austria; the Dolomites, Italy; and Montafon, Austria. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and we welcome parents to help at meetings, fund raisers, community events, and as chaperones for trips. Please see our volunteer opportunities page for more information. We normally have many volunteers for chaperones, who are chosen for the contributions to club operations and volunteer activities as well as their ability to ski or snowboard. Chaperones work hard -- safety of the Club's members, both on and off the slopes, is our first priority -- but have a lot of fun in the process.

We will advertise our schedule, meetings and other important information in school bulletins, via e-mail, and in the Stuttgart Community Post.
